THE AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCE OF THE ANDES MOUNTAINS

Today we want to highlight the Condor’s Nest: an amazing ecolodge that in addition to being located in the magical coffee region, brings you a a sustaibale travel experience.

In Frontera Travel, we promote and wholeheartedly believe in sustainable tourism, in destinations that generate concrete actions to restore and most importantly preserve biodiversity in Colombia.

This ecolodge began as a family project by architects Jaime Botero Medina and Tomás Medina with the help of two foundations such as the Fundación Ecológica Cafetera and the Organización Vivo Cuenca, to restore this 60-hectare property, today they have achieved 80% ecological restoration helping to preserve the home of two condors, who have inhabited this territory since 1994.

And why is the condor important? According to the World Wildlife Fund, only 63 specimens are found in Colombian territory, which puts them in danger of extinction. That is why it is important to find places like El Nido del Cóndor and write about restorative tourism, since concrete actions that benefit our nature are beginning to arise, so in this article we give you all the necessary information so that you can visit this incredible ecolodge soon.

The Nido del Cóndor experience begins with the transport to get you there, since they do not use machinery with fuel, the route to get there is the aerial clamp cable, you will be able to observe the landscape of the mountains while you are secure and without contamination from any vehicle.

What will you do when you arrive? You will be able to sleep under the stars in cozy cabins made with renewable materials that directly show the incredible landscape of this plateau. For each guest, the ecolodge promises to plant a native tree, and you could be part of that activity that benefits the ecosystem of the place by planting it yourself. You will also enjoy totally fresh products, since the local community produces everything you will eat in the ecolodge: cheese, milk, vegetables and fresh trout. They have also taken care of every detail within the facilities, since all the usable things that we consider disposable, such as towels, paper, etc., are made of recyclable materials!

This is a unique experience in Colombia, because in addition to seeing the two condors fly in front of you, you will be spontaneously visited by the native fauna of this territory, such as cusumbos, armadillos, the golden fox, and more than 210 species of birds have been seen and cataloged.
