In this trip you will be headquartered in leticia, and each day you will embark on a new adventure to explore the wonderful Amazon.

While you are in the city, hundreds of parrots arriving in the plaza will give you a cheerful welcome and the handicraft shops, parks, churches, monuments and Museum of the Amazonian Man will tell you their own stories.

The majestic river will be your guide as you navigate to the Isla de los Micos where you will feed and be in contact with the monkeys. You will visit the Yagua and Ticuna indigenous communities, and get closer to their language and artistic expressions.

And all that music? The songs of the jungle will welcome you in the Marasha Reserve! You will enter the Peruvian jungle through trails thick with centenary and medicinal trees. In high water season you can enjoy this tour in a canoe.

Visit the Botanical Gardens, the Amazon Tea House, the Jungle Trails and the Cultural Scenarios of the Mundo Amazónico Park.

Return home will a full heart.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - City Tour Leticia

  • Reception at Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport, transfer to the hotel.
  • Lunch.
  • City tour walking around the city of Leticia, visiting craft stores, parks, the church, monuments, the boardwalk, the Ethnographic Museum of the Amazonian Man, and watching the arrival of the parakeets.
  • Dinner and rest at Hotel Waira or similar.

DAY 2 - Tour to Puerto Nariño, Amazonas

  • Breakfast, transfer to the civil port, and a boat ride along the Amazon River. Passing the imaginary border point dividing Colombia, Brazil, and Peru.
  • Visit to Monkey Island.
  • Activity to feed the monkeys and observe the crafts made by the Yagua indigenous people.
  • Visit to the Macedonia community, a Ticuna indigenous population, welcome dance, and learning words in the native dialect. Time to observe and buy crafts made from bloodwood, yanchama, chambira, seeds, etc.
  • Lunch in Puerto Nariño, the second municipality of the Department and Colombia's natural crib. City tour of the town, passing by the tourist viewpoint with views of the river and nearby lakes. (During the river tour, there’s a chance to observe pink and gray dolphins.)
  • Return to Leticia, dinner, and rest at the Hotel.

DAY 3 - Marasha, Natural Park

  • Breakfast, boat ride along the Amazon River for approximately 30 to 45 minutes to the Peruvian bank, entering the reserve.
  • 1-hour walk in the jungle, appreciating centuries-old and medicinal trees such as ceibas, ohes, capinurys, chuchuguaza, and acril, along with a variety of bird species, monkeys, frogs, and insects.
  • Arrival at the reserve, rest, and snack. (During high-water season, this tour is done by canoe.)
  • Typical lunch.
  • In Marasha Lake, observe birds of various species, engage in artisanal fishing (piranhas, sabalo, sardines, etc.), canoeing, and observing the Victoria regia (Amazon water lily).
  • Return to Leticia, dinner, and accommodation at Hotel Waira.

DAY 4 - Amazonian World

  • Breakfast, transfer by car to the Ecological Park. The visit includes:
  • BOTANICAL GARDEN (The largest organized collection of Amazonian plants in the Department, with 6 educational stations and tasting of Amazonian tea.)
  • THE AMAZON TEA HOUSE (Learn about native plants and fruits used in sustainable development systems in the Amazon, sustainable production processes, and environmental education.)
  • CULTURAL SCENES (Enjoy activities like archery and dart throwing with blowguns.)
  • AQUARIUM (Learn about piranhas and many other fish species from the Amazon.)
  • JUNGLE TRAIL (Enjoy direct contact with nature.)
  • Lunch.
  • Afternoon shopping in Tabatinga, Brazil, visiting the shoe street, the chocolate house, and surrounding areas.
  • Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Waira.

DAY 5 - End of the trip

  • Breakfast at the hotel, free morning, lunch not included, and transfer to Alfredo Vásquez Cobo Airport.

Recommendations

What to bring?

  • Light clothing, preferably cotton and long sleeved.
  • Long pants.
  • Hat and/or bandana.
  • A waterproof poncho, in case it rains on the hikes, it is better than a jacket (which can be a bit warm).
  • Keep in mind that in Leticia there are banks and ATMs, but not in the communities.
  • THE YELLOW FEVER VACCINE IS MANDATORY AS WELL AS A VALID MEDICAL INSURANCE.
