The majestic white peaks of the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy are the highest in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes. The park has over 80 streams and rivers, about 150 lagoons and, because of its extension, different ecosystems including rainforest, Andean forest, paramo and snowy.
In this adventure you will be able to explore different trails on epic hikes. One of them is to the Mahoma viewpoint, where you will find a landscape of amazing immensity; the second trail will take you to the Pulpito del diablo and the Nevado Pan de azúcar peak, returning by the Lagunilla trail (11 hours); the last one is to the Ritacuba Blanco glacier (8 hours) where you will also find a landscape with snowy outbreaks and singular beauty.
You will also get to know the municipality of El Cocuy, founded in 1541, through a historical tour and an artisanal workshop.

DAY 1
- Arrival to the town of El Cocuy - 10:00 am ( 2.750 meters AMSL).
- Accommodation at the hotel.
- Breakfast in town.
- Check in at the Parks office.
- Transportation by car from El Cocuy to the village of El Carrizal.
- Acclimatization hike from the Alto to the Mirador de Mahoma viewpoint. This hike has a distance of 8 kilometers, from 3,800 meters above sea level to 4,150 meters above sea level.
- Transportation by car from the highlands to El Cocuy.
- Handicraft workshop and historical tour of the municipality.
- Dinner and lodging in El Cocuy.
DAY 2
- Breakfast.
- Departure by car to the Alto de la Cueva checkpoint (1 hour).
- Hike to the Pulpito del Diablo and Pan de Azucar snowy peak. (11 to 12 hours in total) from 3,900 meters above sea level. To 5,000 meters above sea level. (Accompanied by a guide).
- Return hike through the Lagunilla trail.
- Return to the village of El Cocuy.
- Dinner and lodging in Cocuy.
DAY 3
- Breakfast in the village. Departure by car to the park control of the Ritacuba trail for an hour and a half.
- Hike from Kanwara to the glacier of Ritacuba Blanco. From 3,700 to 4,600 meters AMSL, total round trip 16 kilometers. This hike has an average duration of 8 hours.
- Transfer to the village
- Dinner and lodging in the village.
DAY 4
- Breakfast.
- Return to the city of origin

- If you sleep on the road and arrive on the day the adventure begins, deduct $55,000 COP per person.
PARK RECOMMENDATIONS
- All groups must have an authorized guide or local environmental interpreter to accompany them.
- It is forbidden to enter inside the snow, to camp inside the Park, to slide on the glacier, and to undress.
- It is forbidden for children under 10 years old. It is a preventive measure.
- Visiting the park on horseback is prohibited, these animals nibble and trample the frailejones and other plants, widen the trails and contaminate water sources. Pets are not allowed in the park.
- Do not extract fauna, flora and minerals from the park. This undermines the integrity of the ecosystem, where each element has an important function.
- Do not get drunk or consume hallucinogenic substances, you will put your physical integrity at risk.
- Do not alter, modify or remove the signs, notices, fences or cairns, or cause damage to the facilities or equipment of the Park, remember that these are for the safety and comfort of visitors.
- Do not hunt or disturb wild animals present in the park.
- Do not make noise, disturb other people and species in the Park. Enjoy the tranquility of the landscape and natural sounds.
- The registration must be done one day before and in person at the offices of El Cocuy or Guican; all visitors must receive an introductory talk, to avoid any negative impatc within the Protected Area, helping us to conserve the environment and natural ecosystems of the park.
- Dark sunglasses with a UV protection factor of at least 50.
- Sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 50. It should be used regardless of the weather conditions.
- We recommend to carry a bottle to be refilling it, drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
- Warm clothing (hat, gloves, jackets, jackets, etc.).
- Boots with a good grip to protect the ankle.
- Waterproof clothing or ponchos.
