The DAMARTES (Ladies and Mothers of Art) project, which started with the name “Mothers Head of Family and their Coconuts”, is an association formed by seven women who in 2008 participated in a craft class sponsored by the Proboquilla Foundation and today produce jewelry, vases, containers, belts and accessories, using coconuts. They are the first women in La Boquilla to generate their own income. DAMARTES life is very impressive: they are mothers and grandmothers with interesting life stories that they like to share. Together they form a working group that creates incredible things. When you get to La Boquilla, they will invite you to a very special workshop that takes place in a beautiful rustic restaurant, where each participant will be able to make their own coconut souvenirs, such as bracelets, key chains, earrings or necklaces.
