BIRD AND WILDLIFE WATCHING

The Nature Reserve and AICA is home to more than 275 species of birds, 18 species of mammals, and 30 species of reptiles, and more than 350 animals have been released back to their natural habitat. You can easily see large herds of chigüiros, white-tailed deer, wild horses, babillas, foxes, morrocoys, anacondas, among many other animals that live in their natural habitat.

LLANERO EXPERIENCE

Our "Llano Work" allows guests to live in the flesh the experience of a Creole, go out into the savannah to surround the cattle, herd them and take them to the corral listening to the "Cantos de Vaquería" declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity, it is an indescribable experience.

You can listen to stories and legends told by authentic llaneros who share their tradition; you can also participate in the caballicianza and the Parrando Llanero.

El Encanto de Guanapalo is the result of the union of the cattle ranches Mata de Palma, Altamira & Montana, forming a private "NATURAL RESERVE" and "AICA" - Important Area for the Conservation of Birds and Biodiversity - of almost 9,000 hectares. Unique and incomparable territory with wonderful ecosystems where there is an abundance of biodiversity in birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

General recommendations and for horseback riding:

• Comfortable clothing is recommended. Jeans or thick pants
• and Shirts or long sleeve t-shirts for the sun.
• Wear closed shoes.
• Wear a hat or cap to protect you from the sun.
• Bring sunscreen and repellent.
• The CLARO mobile service is relatively easy to access.

The reserve is located 110km and approximately 2 and a half hours from the Yopal airport on paved roads, and approximately 15km on unpaved roads. You can reach the entrance of the Reserve by private vehicle without any problem, however it is important to know that the first house, Hato Mata de Palma, is located at 6km, Hato Altamira at 11km and Hato Montana at 16km, all the routes from the entrance are on unpaved roads. 

Tip: To get to Yopal from Bogota the best route by road is via Sogamoso - Pajarito - Aguazul, this route takes approximately 6 hours.
