Casanare, the best kept secret of the Colombian Orinoquía, is one of the most biodiverse areas in the country, where it is very easy to observe species in their natural habitat; There you will find the largest populations of white-tailed deer, babillas and chigüiros or capybaras in Colombia.

The predominant floodplain ecosystem is unique in the world, exists similarly in Brazil (El Pantanal) and Argentina (the floodplain Pampas), but its conditions differ mainly because there are no seasons here, a warm climate predominates permanently.

DAY 1: Arrival to Yopal.

You will arrive early in the morning, upon arrival, you will be received at the El Alcaraván Airport in the city of Yopal and transferred to the El Encanto de Guanapalo Reserve, which includes the Hatos Mata de Palma, Altamira and Montana, which, united by the inheritance of their ancestors, constitute a playful place, where the nature and customs of the plainsmen tradition have been preserved since 1908.

This wonder of nature is located 110 kilometers from Yopal, on a journey that takes two hours, by paved road; located in the municipality of San Luis de Palenque "Tierra de gabanes y Llanerazos" 300 meters above sea level.

There you will do a trekking upon arrival, to observe the native fauna that lives naturally. Then comes lunch and accommodation.

DAY 2: Tours of the reserve

You will get up early to watch birds and then comes breakfast. You will be able to watch native fauna such as chigüiros, babillas, turtles, guides, anteaters and deer. This reserve has more than 200 species of birds, howler monkeys and some cats such as the cougar.

Lunch and departure to the Altamira heron, nesting and breeding site for more than 15 species of waterfowl and wading birds. You will make the sighting of many species of birds in the savannah during the journey in the cart that carries the tractor.

You will return at the end of the afternoon to the accommodation area. Dinner and rest.

DAY 3: Safari day on horseback in the Altamira reserve.

Breakfast, departure to do the safari on horseback through the different ecosystems such as the floodplains, forests, drumsticks and estuaries sighting native fauna in Altamira.

You will return to the Hato for lunch and rest. In the afternoon you will be able to walk through the surrounding areas of the reserve and surf for a while in the curiara. You will be able to see the sunset and at night after dinner, to listen to the creoles tell tales and legends of the plain.

DAY 4: Yopal-Bogotá.

You will have a delicious and typical breakfast and you will start the journey back from Hato to Yopal, you will first pass through the municipality of San Luis de Palenque, and then you will continue on the road that passes through the municipality of Trinidad, towards Pore, where you will have lunch, to continue to Yopal and the airport for the return flight in the late afternoon-night.

  • The average temperature in the Orinoquía is 27 ° C., Warm weather predominates, with relative humidity above 85%.
