This trip was thought for “Nature Travelers”, implicating that those travelers who are looking for unique experiences from the places that they visit and at the same time want to avoid big crowds and popular places. Following the tour of the Caldas department, you will apprehend more about special coffee, the way it’s cultivated and the growth process. You will understand why the UNESCO had declared the National Coffee landscape view the world’s heritage. You will also learn about the process of cocoa. We hope you will be astonished by the amount of orchid species in our country at the Farm La Romelia. Together we will visit a small part of Los Nevados National Natural Park, where the páramo ecosystem, the hummingbirds and lots of other bird species will be the protagonists of this journey. To finalize that day, we will visit the Ruiz Thermals. Don’t forget your swimsuit! We will finish our trip in Salamina, Caldas. A destination we can visit thanks to the peace in our country. Every corner of this town has it’s own history, stories, shapes, colors, and a lot of unique art. Ascending the mountain, we will arrive at San Félix Valley, also known as the home of wax palms and one of the best observable preserved places to see. Lunch will be in a rural restaurant and a special dinner with live music will be the trip’s final destination
Traditional Coffee and Cocoa Farm Hacienda Venecia
The Hacienda Venecia is one of the traditional coffee farms in Colombia. Today, with three accommodations of different categories, it is a pioneer in coffee experiences in Colombia and more recently in special coffee and Cacao experiences.
The Snow Peak National Natural Park and Ruiz Thermals
We will visit the Snow Peak of Ruiz, the tomb sector to learn about the paramo ecosystem. Once we return, we will walk a short trail to see different types of hummingbirds at Ruiz Thermals. Here we will have lunch and for those who want to relax, can go in one of the thermal pools.
Villa Romelia
With one of the most complete collections of orchids in Colombia, in the middle of one of the most impressive mountainous landscapes in the region, your host will make us start or strengthen our relationship with the extraordinary plants.
Salamina Caldas
This heritage town, characterized by the art seen everywhere, located in the middle of the Caldas mountains, isolated and a little hidden. During the conflict, its population was victim of different armed groups. Today it is an emerging and a very strong destination.
San Felix Valley
You don't have to go to Valle del Cocora to see the palms up close in its maximum splendor, but you have to go to Valle San Felix, to see the palms up close in its natural habitat and in optimal state of conservation. We will also visit a palm reforestation project and have the opportunity to plant our own.
Our tour contemplates places with different climates. Pack light clothing that you can vary according to the layers you need. In the coffee region you will need a jacket because of the temperature drops. In the snow you should layer up with 3 layers of clothing including a raincoat. Pack shoes with good grip, personal medication, documents, a water bottle, windbreaker, and a camera.
